University of Washington Huskies
Husky Stadium has the record for having the loudest game in college football history: 130 decibels in 1992 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Huskies nickname for athletic teams was officially adopted on Feb. 3, 1922.
The University of Washington football team played its first collegiate opponent — Stanford — on Dec. 29, 1893, losing 40-0 before 600 spectators in West Seattle. The university is one of the oldest universities on the west coast (founded in 1861). One of the more popular students who enrolled at the University of Washington was Bruce Lee in 1961, but he later dropped out.
